WOW! THIS MAKES ME HAPPY AND EXTREMELY EXCITED!
St. Vincent revealed this weekend that her long-in-development collaborative album with David Byrne will see release later this fall. (via St. Vincent, David Byrne Collaborative Album Out This Fall | Under The Radar)
St. Vincent
“Cheerleader”
The concept for this is absolutely brilliant – Clark is usually seen as this small, fragile woman, but here she’s a giant, sitting in the middle of a big white space - a warehouse? a gallery? – as people gaze on with mute, muffled horror. That would be interesting and pointed enough, but then she rises up only to shatter into pieces, unable to stand up on her own when made to be a larger-than-life art object. All of her videos have been excellent and play on expectations and tensions stemming from her appearance, but this may be the best yet.
