“Counting on Karma” by Will Dailey and The Rivals
Today I’m giving some much-deserved props to Boston’s own Will Dailey and The Rivals, who recently caught my ear with the sunny, hook-laden acoustic gem ”Counting on Karma” off their 2011 self-titled release. Dailey and company have enjoyed a recent wave of critical acclaim and a steady rise in popularity, earning two Boston Music Awards for Best Male Singer-Songwriter and opening for legends like Neil Young and Willie Nelson. Next Tuesday (3/27/12), the band will play a live set on WERS 88.9 FM, Emerson College’s student-run station and one of the best sources of new music you can find. Should be a smashing show, so be sure to tune in.
Will Dailey & Audrey Ryan. LIVE March 8th @ Club Passim- Cambridge MA
Monday- Feb. 6th Around The World!!
“Dailey is by far one of the brightest singer/songwriters in the Boston area. His songs are immediately accessible; his voice has the same big-biz charm that’s scored people like Chris Martin and Caleb Followell more ink and cash than the Backstreet Boys. But the Andover native also does a mean Chris Robinson impression and has an obsession with the Stones album Sticky Fingers (read about that here). Beneath the pop sensibility he has a dark side that’ll always bring him street-cred in the Americana world. That combo is dangerous, and the songs are drenched in raw personality and mature with an honest vision, much like something Neil Young would pen.”
